NOTICE OF VACANCY
AND
NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO APPOINT INTERIM MAYOR
STOCKTON, UTAH

 

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a midterm vacancy in the office of the Stockton Town Mayor.  The vacancy was created by the resignation of Mayor Mark Whitney, effective on January 31, 2018.  The person appointed will serve as Mayor through the calendar year 2019; and an interim election will be held in November 2019 for the remaining two years in the Mayor’s term.   Any individual interested in serving as Mayor of the Town of Stockton is invited to submit a written statement of interest to the Stockton Town Council.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS.  A candidate must be a registered voter in the Town of Stockton, and must meet other requirements of the Utah State Constitution.1

APPLICATION DEADLINE AND LOCATON.  Statements of interest must be received at the Town Offices no later than 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.  Applications shall be submitted to Diana Marks, Stockton Town Clerk, at the Stockton Town Offices, 18 North Johnson Street, PO Box 240, Stockton, UT  84071.

INVITATION TO SUBMIT WRITTEN INFORMATION.  Individuals interested in being appointed to fill the vacancy are required to submit a statement of interest by the above deadline.  Although not required, such individuals are invited to provide additional written information about their qualifications, education and experience (resumes, narratives of experience, etc.) that may assist the Council in evaluating each individual under consideration for the appointment.

SPECIAL MEETING FOR APPOINTMENT.  The Town Council will hold a special public meeting to conduct interviews of all qualified applicants at a special meeting of the Town Council on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Stockton Town Offices, 18 North Johnson Street, Stockton, UT  84071.  The special meeting will be held in the Town Council Chamber.  Interviews will be conducted in an open meeting, and the public is invited to attend.

SPECIAL MEETING FOR APPOINTMENT.  The Town Council will make the appointment at the Special Meeting, immediately following the interviews.
